How Healthie Crafts our (Public-Facing) Product Roadmap
Discover how Healthie builds its public-facing product roadmap with transparency, customer feedback, and industry insights. Learn how we prioritize features, foster innovation, and shape the future of digital healthcare.
Innovation in healthcare isn’t just about technology—it’s about transparency, collaboration, and solving the industry's toughest challenges. At Healthie, we believe that the future of healthcare depends on breaking barriers—not only for patients but for the entire healthcare ecosystem. Too often, legacy healthcare systems have siloed data and stifled progress, while software companies have kept their product roadmaps behind closed doors, limiting opportunities for feedback and alignment with real-world needs.
We take a different approach. Since our founding in 2016, Healthie has built an industry-leading EHR, Scheduling, and Engagement platform by listening to those on the front lines of care—clinicians, administrators, and developers—who rely on our tools every day. Our product strategy isn’t just about building features; it’s about creating a seamless, efficient, and scalable healthcare infrastructure that empowers 29,000+ providers to deliver collaborative, longitudinal care.
That’s why we’ve made our product roadmap public. We believe that transparency isn’t just good business—it’s essential for healthcare innovation. By sharing our plans openly, we enable providers and organizations to plan ahead, optimize their own workflows, and shape the evolution of the tools they depend on. This approach doesn’t just showcase what we’re working on— it ensures that what we build truly matters.
In the spirit of transparency, we’re peeling back the “how” and the “why” behind our roadmap—how it reflects the needs of providers, administrators, and developers, and why we believe transparency is a critical element for the future of healthcare infrastructure.
But First - Our Public Facing Product Portal!
We publish our Product Roadmap (and a subset of requests that we receive) because we believe in transparency. Transparency with our customers is foundational to our relationship with them, and this alignment enables our customers to plan for what they can expect from Healthie’s product, and relatedly, how they can prioritize their own product roadmaps and operational initiatives. This openness isn’t just about showcasing what we’re working on— it empowers their builders to save time and focus resources on what’s truly important and differentiating.
How we Shape Healthie’s Product Roadmap
Building our roadmap is a thoughtful, collaborative process designed to turn customer feedback into meaningful product improvements.
Over 9 years of building, we’ve iterated on, and evolved on roadmap building processes. What initially included a few individuals and a single spreadsheet has evolved into a process that ingests thousands of insights a year with a sophisticated prioritization process.
Here’s how the past nine years have informed our roadmap process, and the steps we take to ensure a resulting roadmap that delivers.
1. We turn product insights into action.
We’re always listening and we make it easy to receive feedback. Insights come from our public roadmap, support tickets, customer calls, and our team members. In 2024 we received over 4,500 insights (aka feature requests). Every single insight is centralized in Productboard, our single source of truth tool for Product work. Our Product Managers triage all insights as they come in, assign them to feature cards, and prioritize the work for future development.
Taking a single-source approach to receiving and managing feedback ensures that all insights are considered, but more importantly – that all insights are actioned on.

2. We prioritize what matters most – and partner to solve for the rest.
Every feature request has value, but not all have the same impact. To ensure our roadmap delivers maximum value to our customers, we use a scoring formula to prioritize features. This formula evaluates:
- Number of insights: How frequently a feature is requested across customer feedback channels, such as support tickets, public roadmap votes, and customer calls.
- Customer impact score: The potential of a feature to improve workflows, reduce inefficiencies, or enable better care delivery at scale.
- Alignment with annual product goals: How well the feature supports our strategic priorities and mission to empower providers with the tools they need to deliver collaborative, longitudinal care.
This structured approach helps us balance the volume of requests with their potential to create meaningful change, ensuring we focus on high-impact releases that drive innovation and better serve our customers.

Healthcare is too big of a problem for one company to solve, and we love partnering with partners to build the next generation, API-first ecosystem. Our app marketplace, Healthie Harbor, has more than doubled in the past year, and it's inspiring to see the creativity of apps, last-mile solutions, workflows automated, etc., that our community is building. There's so much we can do to continue enabling this ecosystem at the highest level, making things simpler for third parties to build into Healthie.
By making it easier for point solutions to build quality integrations, and by building some of these solutions ourselves, we can raise the quality of healthcare software as a whole. Doing so will have an outsized impact on improving the quality of care that our customers provide.
3. We balance product tooling with human insight.
A 100% tool-driven process doesn’t always deliver the best results. That’s why we take the time to involve our team—from Product and Support to Success and Sales—in shaping the roadmap. Their insights and advocacy ensure we prioritize what truly matters for our customers and their workflows.
Though we leverage tools and formulas, our team has a strong influence on what ends up on the final roadmap and can advocate and pushback on specific features.
Every Q4 we internally publish a draft version of our annual product roadmap—an essential product mind-map. We invite our team to weigh in with their feedback. Essentially, what’s missing? What’s nice-to-have, but not going to deliver true value? From there, our team begins to massage the roadmap into a more concrete annual roadmap. Each quarter, we iterate further to solidify our quarterly roadmap—and ensure every initiative becomes public-facing on our roadmap, providing visibility for our customers.
4. We implement a single, unified roadmap that meets the needs of all users on our platform, across all core functionality.
At Healthie, we’ve built a robust, comprehensive, and API-first platform designed to meet the complex needs of healthcare providers and organizations. Our R&D team is structured into squads that own feature sets which allows for ownership of segments of Healthie’s codebase. This enables higher agility and velocity of shipping at a larger team scale.
Apart from feature development, we reserve capacity for addressing bugs, writing tests, and ensuring a robust platform experience. At Healthie, we understand the significance of a stable infrastructure and have dedicated teams for platform maintenance, security, and support. We also have an entire team dedicated to platform: the stuff our customers never see—platform stability, security, speed, and everything “underneath the iceberg” that comes with offering a business-critical, healthcare-critical software platform.
By aligning all teams under one cohesive roadmap, we ensure that features and functionalities seamlessly integrate across product verticals. This unified approach enhances efficiency, reduces friction, and delivers a connected experience that empowers providers to focus on what matters most—delivering exceptional care to their patients.

5. We maintain a dynamic roadmap and prioritize customer communication.
Our finalized roadmap is published in our Product Portal. Customers can see what’s coming, vote on features, and continue sharing feedback to keep the process collaborative and dynamic.
At Healthie, our roadmap isn’t just a static document—it’s a living, breathing extension of our team. We constantly ingest feedback and insights from customers, refining and evolving the roadmap to reflect their needs. At the same time, we actively share updates to keep customers informed about the features they care about most. We maintain monthly Release Notes that are updated in real-time, and send out weekly updates to customers on what functionality is coming to the platform.

Through our Product Portal, customers can:
- Subscribe to specific feature requests (Portal Cards): This lets them track progress, receive updates, and stay informed about changes as features move through development.
- Vote on features and share feedback: Customers directly influence our roadmap by voicing their priorities and ideas.
- For Enterprise customers, access a custom portal: Organizations can see an aggregated view of all their submitted requests, track their progress, and monitor how their needs are being addressed within Healthie’s pipeline.
This open and transparent process ensures our customers are more than just users—they’re partners shaping the future of our platform. By keeping the lines of communication open, we create a dynamic, collaborative process that keeps Healthie’s roadmap aligned with the ever-evolving needs of providers and demands of the healthcare industry.

6. We stay agile and flexible to meet our customer & platform needs in real-time.
Our roadmap is designed to adapt quickly to the real-world needs of our customers. With dozens of updates deployed weekly, we ensure our platform evolves in real-time—because our customers and the patients they work with can’t afford to wait weeks, months, or years for solutions to business-critical or care-critical challenges. By leaving room for flexibility, we prioritize agility in our development process, delivering timely updates that directly address the needs of our customers.

Elevating Excellence: Our 2025 Commitment to Quality
As we enter 2025, we’re building on the theme of quality introduced in our 2024 Year-End Company Update. This guiding principle shapes our product roadmap, ensuring we prioritize features that help providers deliver exceptional care at scale. This year, we’re focusing on three key areas to uphold this commitment:
1. Quality of our core platform & features.
Healthie is made up of thousands of micro-features, and we’re committed to ensuring every detail meets an exceptionally high standard. By refining visual elements and thoughtfully crafting new features, we aim to create a seamless, intuitive experience that practices and organizations can trust to support their work. Together, these countless small touches add up to best-in-class tools that our customers love to use.
2. Quality of how features work together.
This is the quality of cohesion. We’re committed to making sure our features integrate smoothly into provider and administrator workflows. This means reducing clicks, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring that new tools complement existing capabilities.
3. Quality of the ecosystem we build (aka Healthie Harbor).
Our developer ecosystem continues to grow rapidly, and we’re committed to making it easier for third parties to build quality integrations with Healthie. By doing so, we’re driving innovation across the healthcare software landscape and empowering providers to deliver exceptional care.
Healthie’s product roadmap is not merely a compilation of features; it's a testament to our dedication to customer-centric innovation. It's a roadmap forged by the amalgamation of customer insights, meticulous planning, and a commitment to building a platform that not only meets but exceeds our users' expectations. At Healthie, every line of code, every feature added, and every improvement made is a reflection of our commitment to our customers and our relentless pursuit of enhancing their experience.
We are proud and humbled to do this work, and to (in partnership with our customers and partners) help improve virtual-first, longitudinal care.
